After a year of hard work and planning, the time has finally come! Our brand-new South American themed area will open on May 28, 2025!
In our podcast, we took you on a journey through the construction process, introduced you to our animals, and shared some of the challenges we faced. And now? Now we can't wait to take you on an unforgettable trip to the heart of South America.
Will you travel with us?
8 new animal species and a tropical paradise
From May 28, you will find not seven, but eight new animal species in our park. Each animal is unique. Every encounter is an opportunity to enjoy the sights.
All eight animal species can be found in the wild in South America. A sloth, tamanduas, and armadillos share a large indoor and outdoor enclosure. You will also find a poison dart frog, a Goliath birdeater, a colorful garden tree boa, turtles, and... monkeys! At each enclosure, you can learn all about the animals and get a glimpse into the lives of these special species.
Imagine yourself in the magical world of South America. For a day you won't soon forget.
A real Peruvian supermarket in Eibergen
We are incredibly proud of our new animal species and enclosures. But—as we often do—we went much further than just new enclosures. At the heart of this new area, we are opening the Mercado—a real Peruvian supermarket. Right here in Eibergen.
Well, “real”...? When you walk in, you feel like you're in a supermarket in Peru. But no, this isn't a supermarket where you can do your shopping. Still, you don't have to leave empty-handed. We have a vending machine filled with souvenirs. One of those souvenirs is a bag of coffee beans with real Peruvian beans. Sustainably grown, and every purchase contributes to nature conservation projects in Peru. The perfect place for a pit stop.

Where do the animals come from?
From other zoos! Most European zoos, including our park, exchange species with each other. Sometimes a park has a ‘surplus’ of a certain animal species. These animals can then be accommodated at our park, for example. We carefully examine the pedigree and family ties of the animals. For some species, such as the Tamandua, Sloth, and Goeldi's marmoset (monkeys), we are part of a European Species Conservation Program (EEP).
A responsible glimpse into their world, then!
A responsible glimpse into their world! Officially open from May 28!
Over the past few weeks, the new themed area has been open to visitors from time to time while we were busy with the finishing touches. But now the new area is finally complete. And so we are officially opening Novo Mundo.
This is your chance to be one of the first to experience the new South American adventure. Even in bad weather, because part of the area is covered. Will you be joining us for the opening? See you there!
