The construction of our brand new themed zone has started! That means construction is in progress in the park, working hard to open the new area as soon as possible. Construction work is expected to last until the fall of 2024. Curious about what this means for your visit? Read more here >>

2024: A new themed zone!

Last week, Biologist Tim and Designer Ivo revealed that a new area is being built in our park. They did this in a brand new podcast series, which you can listen to on this page. Unfortunately, the podcast can only be listened to in Dutch, but we will keep you updated on the construction of the new area through blogs! Monday (11-03-2024) the construction finally started and the excavators fully transformed the construction site!

In the coming months, a new part of our zoo will rise from the construction area. This site is located in the middle of our park, so as a visitor you may experience some of the work.

Relocation of the animals

There are some existing animal species located in the area that is currently under construction. These are the raccoons, the bearded dragon and the macaws. Some species will be moved to other zoos, while others will be moved internally to a new enclosure. The space they leave will house new species that are more suitable for the future area.

What will you notice as a visitor?

There is construction work going on! Sometimes there are construction noises or you will see staff walking through the park with wheelbarrows and building materials. Because we occasionally work with large equipment, some paths can be damaged, we will repair them immediately. It is possible that during your visit work is being done on (parts of) the paths. We will of course do our best to minimize the inconvenience to our guests, striving to have you walking around in the new area as soon as possible!

Ps: our new area will of course have paved paths, to prevent damage and flooding in the future!
